Weel, it's not to be.
Last weekend was more of the same for the Union. More sloppy play, more poor defense, more bad luck. All of this continues to equal the pains of being an expansion franchise.
So, the U.S. Open is now out of the picture, so the Union can continue with their regular season. However, tonight could be bad. Philadelphia travels to Los Angeles to play the udnefeated Galaxy. They will also have to do this without leading scorer Sebastien Le Toux, who was injured in the U.S. Open qualifier on Monday. As far as I'm concerned, the Galaxy are the unquestioned best team in the MLS and are certainly the best team starting the season.
This will be an important game for the Union nonetheless, even with the odds stacked heavily against them. This is a game where the Union must not make mistakes and must remain composed. They will be playing essentailly the Yankees of the MLS, and will need to give a 100% effort to stay in this game all the way through.
Ultimately, even if they lose but play hard, this is a game that Philadelphia can build momentum off of. The Union are closing in on their reutrn home and if they can at least show some effortm, find some scoring outside of Le Toux, and play better defense. A win may be askign a lot, but keeping the game close isn't too hard of a request, is it?
