Once again, the Capitals are nearly unbeatable, they remain number one, followed by the Sharks and Blackhawks as usual. The Kings and Coyotes are four and five despite not even leading their division, they are both on fire lately and much better than any East teams minus the Caps. New Jersey remains six, while the struggling Sabres drop to seven as the big faller this week. Pittsburgh is gettign back on track, their up to eight and Ottawa, who has been on fire lately, climbs up to nine. Colorado edges Vancouver for the tenth spot, Vancouver is off.

Week 1 NASCAR Power Rankings
1. Jimmie Johnson
2. Denny Hamlin
3. Carl Edwards
4. Kyle Busch
5. Jeff Gordon
6. Mark Martin
7. Tony Stewart
8. Kasey Kahne
9. Kurt Busch
10. Kevin Harvick

This is my first preseason NASCAR power rankings, there will be much more detail in the NASCAR season preview, which I will post on Saturday. Obviously, Jimmie Johnson is one, followed by the top drivers at Gibbs and Roush in my opinion, Hamlin and Edwards. Kyle Busch is dangerous and comes in fourth, while the always consistent and cool Jeff Gordon is five. I put Mark Martin at six simple because I don't see him repeating second in the standings like last year. Tony Stewart should be even better in his second year as owner/driver, he's seventh, followed by the top driver Petty, Kasey Kahne. Kurt Busch comes in at ninth and Kevin Harvick edges out Juan Pablo Montoya for the tenth spot, based on a better past history.
