So, we have our Super Bowl teams and it's sure to be a doozy. Colts vs. Saints in Miami for the Super Bowl XLIV title.
Indianapolis 30 NY Jets 17
Give the Jets much credit, for their fantastic postseason. They made a run from being virtually out after a loss to the Falcons that dropped them to 7-7 to AFC Championship finalist. What a run and a team that looks to have a very bright future. Still, the Jets must be careful in 2010, they will have a much bigger target on their back and teams will not take them for granted. That being said, the Colts played as good of a game as possible and though they trailed at halftime, I just never had a doubt they would win the game. Peyton didn't choke, the defense contained the Jets running game, and Indy came through late and showed maturity and poist that the young Jets seemed to lack today. The Colts fully deserve this Super Bowl spot and will look to cement their place in history with their third Super Bowl win in four tries.
New Orleans 31 Minnesota 28 (OT)
Wow, what a game, most of which I missed. Still, it was as close of a game as possible, with both teams playing virtually even for much of the way. That is, until Brett Favre, looking to be the hero driving the Vikings down the field late in the 4th quarter, was intercepted, sending the game into overtime. The Saints win the toss, drive downfield, one field goal later and they are heading to their first ever Super Bowl. And MAJOR thumbs down to Brett Favre, who fails again in his quest for a Super Bowl title. Time to hang things up Favre, honestly, things cannot go on forever. Now, if he DOES leave, then the Vikings future at quarterback is in question, will it be back to Tavaris Jackson next year? And for the Saints, many congrats on the win and Super Bowl trip. A team that had a terrible regular season finish played like the Saints of old yet again today and showed flashes of a Super Bowl caliber team. That being said, it'll be an interesting battle next week between the Colts and Saints, a preview that I will have in two weeks.
