Fantasy Sports Friday

After an off week from Fantasy sports last week, we continue with a quick fantasy baseball alert and my results from the Australian Open in fantasy tennis.

Fantasy Baseball

After a lot of waiting following my trade for Orlando Cabrera, the third round of the draft will kick off sometime later next week and the draft will go round by round on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. With my starting lineup basically set as well as my rotation. I will be looking at this point to rebuild my bullpen for the most part and add a few position players for depth in the corner spots. Stay tuned next week to check out my draft picks.

Fantasy Tennis
Well, my journey at the Australian Open ended this past Monday, as I went all the way to the quarterfinals before being eliminated in both singles and doubles. I kikced off my singles tournament with an easy win over Dennis of Poland, 26-23. The second round was a tough battle against Ekin of China. We matched each other pick for pick into the second day of the round, where, ironically, Zheng Jie won me the match and sent me to round three. The third round was againast the very tough Xi Zku of China, but I made excellant picks and blew out Xi 34-28. This brought me to the fourth round, against Hassam of Turkey. I edged out the young Hassam to go to the quarterfinals, where I ran into Benny of Belgium, the 19th and highest remaining seed in the tournament. A couple ill-advised picks lost me the match.

In doubles, Ryan and I had a solid run as the 13th seed in the draw. We kicked off the doubles tournament with an easy walkover win against two young players from Italy and Brazil whose names I do not know or recall. The second round had us meet a long time doubles pairing of Miiko from estonia and Paul from Singapore. Ryan and I had an excellant round, winning 68-64 to go to round three. There, we played the number one team in the world, top seeded James from the NEtherlands and fellow American Marc. We managed to somehow easily defeat them to go to the quarterfinals on fire. However, in the quarterfinals we met Benny, the same guy that I lost to in singles, with his partner Andy. We got demolished, ending our Australian Open run.

I was not selected for the U.S.A. Federation Cup team, so I am taking next week off before going to Paris, Fance for the Open G.D.F. which begins on February 7.
