Conference Championship Weekend Picks

Just four team remain in the quest to see who will be Super Bowl XLIV Champions. This week we have the AFC and NFC Championships, with the winners heading off to Miami. After a solid wild card week of picking games, I flopped in the Divisional Round. In any case, here are my predictions for the Conference Championships.

Last Week 1-3
Regular Season Record- 165-91
Postseason Record- 4-4

Original Conference Championship Predictions
San Diego 27 Baltimore 9
New Orleans 21 Minnesota 10

Indianapolis 21 NY Jets 13
I said last week there was no way the Jets would beat San Diego. Well, to quote Chris Berman, that's why they play the game. Now, this week, as I run this game through my mind I can't see any way the Colts lost this game. However, the Jets have had this slight swagger, a little momentum, and a whole bunch of lady luck on their side. Their groung game and defense is equipped to play slow, low scoring games, while the Colts counter with their high flying offense an opputunistic but strong and solid defense up front that shut down Ray Rice last week. As far as I'm concerned, the Cotls were up and ready last week and dominated Baltimore, I expect more of the same this week. However, I think the JEts will give them a bit more of a ride and keep the game close. Nevertheless, put me on the record as saying this, there's absolutly no way the Jets win this game.

New Orleans 21 Minnesota 17
I'll change from my early predicition a little bit because of how the Vikings impressed me against Dallas last week. That being said, it's the NFC Championship everyone envisioned and will likely be lower scoring then many people expect based on the Vikings superb defense, the Saints underapprecaited D, and a game that will be a little more ball control then normal. However, the Saints have the offense to slice through the Vikings suspect secondary and I think that will be the x-factor. If New Orleans can air the ball out, they should have no issues winning this game. Meanwhile, I see a choking Brett Favre this week, if the Saints put pressure on him he will make mistakes and wear down. Give the Saints the victory and their first NFC Championship.
